About Me
Hi,
I’m Anne Emerick (creator of Unemploymentville.com) and
I’m a fan of…
- family
- being outside (especially in the mountains or on a lake)
- Labradors
- books
I earn a living by day as a Java programmer/manager (similar to a player/coach) and at night I put on a cape, hunch over my laptop and write and publish. Over the years I’ve written a number of books in 3 different genres: Non-Fiction for Adults, Children’s Stories and Bilingual Story Audiobooks. Here are the highlights.
Non-Fiction for Adults
My most recent book, Out-of-Work to Making Money, 21 Comeback Stories Every Job Hunter Should Hear shares strategies and compelling true stories from people in all walks of life who worked their way from jobless to financially secure. To look inside, go to Amazon. It’s newly-released as an audiobook with a full-cast production. Go to Audible to hear the excerpt.
Many people feel that with unemployment rates at record lows, no one should have a problem getting a job, but that’s not the reality. Every day people lose their job, some from big corporate layoffs, some from a personal crisis or need to move. If you’re underemployed or unemployed and struggling, this book’s for you.

Children’s Books
The Day I Met Dr. Seuss – a historical fiction book for kids of all ages, written in rhyme.
Have you ever read a Dr. Seuss book and wondered, “How’d he think THAT up?”
The Day I Met Dr. Seuss tells the rhyming tale of Annie G. Magee, a young girl who wants to meet Dr. Seuss and find out what makes him so unique. Not content to simply write to Dr. Seuss, Annie travels to his house, summons her courage and knocks upon the door. Dr. Seuss is not at home, but Annie isn’t…. (Read more)
Note: This book has 104 reviews for a 4.6 out of 5 star rating (at time of posting). I’m pretty proud of that. Maybe Dr. Seuss fans are more inclined to write reviews than the average reader?
Poster Girl (Friends Along the Way Series, Mom’s Choice Award Recipient) – Paula wants to win the third-grade science poster contest more than anything. There’s just one problem – and her name is Cynthia Lyden. Also known as Little Miss Perfect. Cynthia, a girl with a different hair scrunchie for every outfit. Cynthia, who handwrites whole pages without a single cross-out. Cynthia, who framed her poster and brought it in a day early. All Paula wants is… (Read more)
Smelly Ellie, Second Place Sister
The second book in Friends Along the Way Series. A chapter book story about the frustration of being a younger sister.
Ellie’s sister, Sara, was eleven months older than Ellie. Those eleven months meant that Sara always did things first and got things first. Sara went to school first. Sara learned to read first. Sara got new clothes. Ellie got Sara’s clothes from last year.
When Ellie hears about auditions for the school play she can’t help but want the lead. She’s been wanting to take the lead in something her whole life. But can she?
Younger siblings everywhere will relate to Ellie’s desire to be first at something and her frustration when she is told, “Be patient. Your turn will come.”
Mattie Monster is NOT tired. Yes, it’s bedtime, but what’s a little monster to do if he isn’t sleepy? Mattie follows every request his mother makes while still not doing what she truly wants and going to sleep.
Anyone who’s ever been part of the parent-child struggle of bedtime will smile at this playful battle of wills.

No-Work Spanish for Learning Spanish
No-Work Spanish audiobooks are stories read with each sentence said first in English, then in Spanish. At the end of each chapter, the chapter is repeated entirely in Spanish. No-Work Spanish audiobooks eliminate two of the most common issues with learning a new language – boredom and lack of time. Play No-Work Spanish audiobooks while you drive, walk the dog or make dinner and you’ll get new Spanish words, accurate Spanish pronunciation and some entertainment to boot. Click on cover image to see details of each story. Available wherever audiobooks are sold (Amazon, iTunes).
